In searching to do things better, I made a decision that changed my life. Now I get to do what I love every day: walking people through life-changing transitions with care, patience, and empathy.
When I bought my first home, I remember feeling completely overwhelmed. I had so many questions, and it seemed like everyone assumed I already knew the answers. But I didn’t. I didn’t know what kind of mortgage made sense, which neighborhood would be best, or even what questions I should be asking. That experience stuck with me—not because it was uniquely terrible, but because it made me realize how much better the process could be. And that's what led me into real estate.
I was a few years out of college, living in New Mexico after spending time in Ohio, Alabama, and Utah. My mom had actually suggested real estate to me years before, but I hadn’t paid much attention then. Looking back, I always tell people to listen to their mom. She saw something in me I hadn’t recognized yet.

Getting licensed in 2007 meant stepping into one of the most difficult real estate markets in recent history. The crash had just begun, and my first ten transactions were all short sales. Each one came with its own set of bank procedures and obstacles. I sometimes call it a baptism by fire, because I had to learn the hardest parts of the business right away. Over time, that fast pace and constant variety became something I truly enjoyed.
Each client brings a different situation, and each deal requires a new approach. I fell in love with the challenge, the problem-solving, and the chance to help people through major life changes.
My son was just 2 at the time. He was my greatest motivation to build something sustainable and flexible. I needed a career that would provide financial stability but also allow me to be present. I didn’t want to miss the school drop-offs, the field trips, or the unexpected moments we’d share. Real estate gave me the space to say yes to those things. Even now, with him in college, I look back with gratitude for the time I was able to spend with him.

That sense of connection and care is something I learned early on. I come from a large family with seven children, two of whom are Deaf. Growing up in that environment gave me a deep appreciation for communication and inclusion. I learned American Sign Language as a child, and that skill now helps me serve Deaf clients who may otherwise struggle to access clear, informed guidance in the real estate process. Being able to offer that kind of support is one of the most meaningful aspects of my work.
My approach is also shaped by my faith. I am always seeking to serve others and have a positive impact on those in my life and community. Through my church, I’ve volunteered across Albuquerque, supporting shelters, organizing drives, and responding to the needs that arise throughout our city. That same mindset carries into my business. I strive to make buying or selling a home manageable and build trust through reliable guidance and support.
I’ve lived in Albuquerque for over 25 years, and I genuinely love it here. The blue skies, mountain trails, nearby river, and cultural richness make it a place that feels both grounding and inspiring. In my free time, I enjoy hiking in the Sandia foothills, walking my dogs Quinn (an Australian shepherd) and Sasha (a small terrier), reading for my book clubs, and spending time with my parents who live close by.
This city has given me so much, and I’m proud to serve this area by helping others find their place here—whether they’re moving across town, across the state, or even nationally. Every move is a big deal, and I want to ensure that the transition is as positive and smooth as possible.
Staying involved and knowledgeable is part of my due diligence as a REALTOR®, and it’s how I make sure every client receives the highest level of service. I’m a Certified Residential Specialist, a designation held by fewer than 3% of REALTORS® nationwide, and I’ve been recognized among Albuquerque’s top 300 agents with the Real Producer Certificate for over six years. I’m also a Master Certified Negotiation Expert and a member of New Mexico Select, a network of top-producing agents committed to excellence. These credentials reflect my experience, but what matters most is how I apply them to help my clients.
For sellers, I focus on preparation—walking through the home and recommending cost-effective updates like repainting, new carpet, or rearranging furniture to make the strongest impression. I manage every detail, from staging to professional photography, so the home stands out. For buyers, I help define their top priorities and guide them toward homes that truly fit their lifestyle and goals. I always ask, “Where are you going next?” My goal is more than just closing a sale. I’m here to bring steady, thoughtful guidance that empowers you to make confident decisions for your future!
Sincerely,
Cecilia Chavez
